Scuba Diving & Snorkeling
Snorkeling and scuba diving in the warm, crystal clear ocean waters surrounding the north coast of the Dominican Republic are some of the most enjoyable activities you can imagine. Everyone from the most experienced underwater cave divers to the brand new snorkelers will find something here to challenge and entertain them. There are even fresh water lakes and caverns to explore so you really should give it a try.
The turquoise waters of the coves, bays and shallow beaches literally beckon the snorkeler to come and investigate. Hidden beneath the waves is an abundance of marine life and other interesting things to watch. Who knows, maybe you will be the one to discover the sunken treasure washed up on the shore from the Spanish galleons of yesteryear.
Below the waves the scuba divers will thrill at the chance to actually see one of these impressive sunken treasures. The Silver Shoals is named for the number of Spanish galleons sunk there over the years, littering the bottom of the ocean with their treasures. There are many unique and exciting dive spots as well, because the super deep trench (6000’ deep) between this island and the next offers some excellent diving locales.
Certified dive operators are available throughout the country so make sure you ask for one. These are the operators who have the safety you need and the experience you want to help you locate and enjoy the best dive and snorkeling sites on the coast.
